Faust designed the new characters for Them's Fightin' Herds, leaving the team free to focus on the fighting mechanics and extras like the Visual Pixel Lobby. Fans rallied to back the project and Mane 6 was even contacted by Lauren Faust, a well-known cartoon producer who created the concept for My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic.

Mane 6 wasn't finished, as they took the assets and started a new, original game, Them's Fightin' Herds. This attention worked against Mane 6, however, as they received a Cease and Desist notice from Hasbro, owners of the property. The Mane Six are just some pony friends who are living a normal life in Equestria right Well, you would be. The focus ponies for this season are the Mane Six: Twilight Sparkle, Rainbow Dash, Pinkie Pie, Apple Jack, Rarity and Fluttershy. Fighting Is Magic, as it was called, started to gain attention not only from My Little Pony fans but from the greater fighting game community as well. Season 1: Ponies of Adventure is the first season in the MLP: Adventures of Magic series. The development team, Mane 6, started by making a fighting game using the characters from My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic as a fun fan project. Them's Fightin's Herds had quite the journey to make it to its release.

Just like any 2D fighter worth its salt, the game has complex combos, flashy special moves, and plenty of opportunities to juggle a foe.

But that doesn't mean that the fights themselves are tame. Instead of battling on the mean streets, these animals take the fight to enchanted forests and pristine winter wonderlands. Since it was originally developed as a My Little Pony homage, the game's characters and world take on a more cutesy appearance than most fighting games. But now it's back with all-new original characters and finally ready to kick some tail. The game, originally developed as a fan project starring My Little Pony characters, was almost cancelled when My Little Pony owner Hasbro threatened legal action against the game's creators.

This unique fighting game puts players in control of one of many quadrupedal combatants for fast-paced, highly animated 2D battles.

The livestream itself netted over 3,000k viewship.  I also heard some grumblings from some fans about the fact someone is developing a fighting game (since its somewhat anti-moral to the show).  But from what I've seen from the PreAlpha a month or two ago, its sticking to your classical fighting game, there is no blood or gore (Street Fighter over Mortal Kombat).  I could see if maybe Applejack was literally kicking the head off doppelganger AJ.Ĭurrently we only have the livestream recording.  According to their website, a youtube version should be uploaded here shortly. So the only thing I can report on is what I heard from my usual haunts.  General review was positive, and it seem the game flowed like a classic fighter should.  Heard a few things on little details, such as feathers coming out of the chicken coop when someone got ground slammed near it. Ash began his fight with Pikachu against Tirek and the Storm King to free the ponies, only finding himself turning human in the battle. The Mane 6 and Pikachu emerged outside of the Storm Kings Palace. Indie game developer Mane6 hosted a 1 hour preview of Fighting is Magic, an MLP:FiM fighting game.  Sadly at this time we don't have any text details of the game, I am currently checking to see if any of the staff was watching and could report (long story short, my internet has crapped out on me, can't youtube or stream.).
